136 Taking Diversity out of the Box - Exploring Cultural Discourses and Bios for Coaches

In this class, students will dive into the topic of “cultural bios, stories and narratives.” Exploring the meaning of ‘cultural discourses,’ students will interact in conversations and activities that will deepen their awareness of their own cultural blind spots, biases and assumptions, values and beliefs. Understanding ourselves and others is crucial to the success of coaching. Meeting our coaching clients where they are is essential to the impact that we can make as coaches. In this class, students become awake and aware about the impact that their cultural discourses have on their ability to create a safe, belonging, and trusting coaching environment.

Students will begin to create the foundation for their cultural bios and will be asked to write their cultural bios as a homework assignment
